Dr. Gruen is the founder and Executive Director of Westchester CAPS. Prior to establishing the center, he was an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at NYU Medical Center. He has more than 30 years of experience working with adolescents, adults, and couples, and has expertise in the areas of depression, anxiety, oppositional defiant disorders, stress disorders, and couple and family problems. Dr. Gruen received his B.A., M.A. and Ph.D. in two areas of psychology from the University of California, Berkeley and completed a three-year fellowship in Psychiatry at Yale University School of Medicine. He is currently an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Yale University School of Medicine.
Dr. Cahill obtained his medical and Ph.D. training at the University of Nottingham and the University of Huddersfield, respectively, in the UK. He completed his psychiatry residency and a clinical research fellowship at Yale. He is board certified in Psychiatry, Addiction Medicine and Clinical Informatics. He serves as the Medical Director at CAPS Greenwich and the Residency Program Director for the Yale University Department of Psychiatry. Dr. Cahill is is a founding expert in the field of psychiatric deprescribing (an integrative, patient-centered approach to minimum effective use of medications) and is interested in helping transitional age youth overcome behavioral health challenges to achieve their life goals.
Dr. Becky Reed obtained her B.A. from George Washington University, and her M.A. and Ph.D. from Columbia University. She works with adolescents, adults, and couples with a range of difficulties including depression, anxiety, learning disorders, and identity-related issues. Her theoretical orientation is integrative – she employs cognitive behavioral, insight-oriented, mindfulness, and systems approaches, as needed. Dr. Reed is also a Lecturer at Teachers College, Columbia University.
Rebecca received her bachelors degree from Wesleyan University and her Ph.D. in psychology from the University of New Mexico. She was a pediatric neuropsychology intern at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and completed her fellowship in clinical neuropsychology at Montefiore Medical Center. She conducts neuropsychological testing at CAPS. She was previously an instructor at the University of New Mexico and has published and presented extensively.
Dr. Nielsen received a B.A. in psychology from the University of Michigan, a M.S. in education from Pace University, a master’s equivalent certificate in applied behavioral analysis (ABA), and a Psy.D. in school and clinical psychology from Pace University. She has an eclectic orientation and extensive experience working with elementary, middle, and high school children as well as adults across a range of problem areas including depression, anxiety, ADHD, learning differences and autism spectrum disorders. She also serves as a school psychologist in the Greenwich CT school district.
Matthew received a B.S. in biochemistry from the University of California, Los Angeles. He is currently the clinical and research coordinator at CAPS and is in charge of operations. He is also a postgraduate research associate in the Department of Neurology, Yale University School of Medicine. spectrum disorders. She also serves as a school psychologist in the Greenwich CT school district.
Laura obtained her BA in Management from Hartwick College and her Masters degree in Special and Elementary Education from Manhattanville College. She provides executive function and ADHD coaching at CAPS Greenwich and also serves as the chief learning specialist at the Mead School in Stamford, CT. Before joining Mead, she served as Regional Director for EBS Healthcare, the Education Director at The Pinnacle School, and Director of Assessment and Instruction/Elementary at King School.
